Apple Employees Work a Lot and it Makes Sense

Following my previous post about how Google employees get so many benefits, I want to do the same about Apple.

We love Apple products and Steve Jobs is a raw model for every tech freak.

But…

Looking at the press, you find out that while Google politics is to give as much as they can to make their employees happy, Apple is all about work and work ethic.

An old article from Business Insider collects testimonies. I hope for Apple that they changed their policies.

A senior software engineer called Apple a “passionate place to work” (this is actually good), and then explained that people run out of steam.

Another explained that employees are near burning out.

They don’t have free food like at Google. They don’t have a startup environment like sports and recreation options.

“Everyone simply doing their work like robots”.

“Work-like balance is non-existent” and then “Vacation is not very good”.

“Not much understanding of family emergency”

A manager explained that he still gets emails after 10 pm and that people are still working.

Engineers are doing a lot of overtime.

I think we get the picture. It actually makes sense, Apple is known to be a competitive environment and a goal based reward model.

Now to be honest in 2018 Glassdoor did a review of Apple and found that most of the employees are happy about their job.

According to Glassdoor they get an annual 25% discount to purchase an iPod/iPhone or computer and another $250 to $500 off every three years.

The Glassdoor list is long but is nothing compared to what other companies give.

So like I said before, Apple is all about work, goals and competition.
